Pounded yam is a traditional West African dish made by pounding boiled yam tubers into a smooth, stretchy dough. It’s commonly served as a side with soups like egusi, ogbono, or vegetable stews. For a quicker alternative, yam flour (like Poundo Iyan) can be used. When preparing from fresh yam, boil until soft, then pound or mash vigorously until stretchy and smooth. Serve warm for best texture and flavor.
